I have a fantasy: i want to see whatever remnants are left of the Washington Post journalism staff take up the mantle left by the decimated Metro section team and focus on local news. Years before Watergate, the Washington Post was a local paper. It became a national voice, one that Bezos has single-handedly silenced. So returning to its roots feels like a way forward. And maybe it could help figure out how to restore local journalism to thousands of communities across this country that have lost their local newspaper.
